Scouting in the UK is the largest mixed volunteer-led Movement for young people in the UK.

Scouting exists to make young people’s lives better, helping them realise their full potential and take their place in society.

Watch this video to take a closer look at the difference Scouting is making to communities around the UK.

If you are a young person or know a young person interested in joining, or you are an adult, keen to be involved on any level, please do get in touch with us. The success of our Group and Scouting as a whole is reliant on volunteers, who selflessly give up their time to support their local groups and help to provide the children involved with skills for life and unforgettable memories. We hope that the adults involved also get something out of it!

Leaders URGENTLY Needed:

We are proud to be able to say that Scouting is becoming ever more popular in the Hope Valley and we are delighted to be able to offer it to as many young people as we can. Unfortunately, with the recent closure of Calver Scout Group and Bradwell Beaver Group, our catchment area is now huge, and with the increased popularity of Scouting, we are now heavily over-subscribed, with up to a year until spaces become available in Beavers (for anyone joining the list now) and very few open spaces in Cubs, which is predominantly filled with Beavers moving up.

This problem stems from an urgent lack of leaders to run sections. Our existing leadership team does an amazing job running the Sections we have. But it is our ambition (nay a desperate need) to establish second Beaver and Cubs groups to enable us to take every child who wants to take part in Scouting and we hate to see children missing out. Without additional adult leaders, we are unable, within the existing leadership team, to establish these additional sections and as such, we are saddened by the missed opportunities that result, for children throughout the Hope Valley.

If you are interested in being involved in Scouting, as a leader, please do get in touch to discuss what it involves and how you might be able to get involved. Please contact us on Without this additional leadership, we are likely to have to continue seeing children sat on the waiting list and never making it into the Group.

[PS: Leaders get priority places for their children and don’t pay subs. As well as the knowledge that their support and participation will make a real difference for children across the Valley.]

If you would like to add you child to a waiting list (no waiting list for Scouts!), please contact the relevant section below.
