Meet the Chief
Hathersage Explorers meet Bear Grylls
On Saturday 19th November, a contingent of Explorers from Hathersage Group went to the Really Big Weekend event at Drum Hill campsite. The day was full of activities for them to take part in, but undoubtedly the highlight of the day was a vist by the Chief Scout Bear Grylls.
Bear was touring scouting events across east midlands and flew in by helicopter (Bearintheair) at 10.55am. He started the visit with a tour around the activities,

(Can you spot a star struck lurker in the foreground???)
and then signed the jamboree banners.

Bear spent some time talking to people at the main stand.

All attendees lined the route back towards the helicopter so that we could get photos. Bear stopped for a group photo with all of the attendees and then took some time to sign pretty much anything that was pushed at him and do photos.
It's not often you get this close to a Chief Scout, so it would have been rude not to........ thats what she said anyway?
Chil had chased him all round the site and finally got her chance.
Well when an opportunity presents itself, it should be taken...
Baloo and the Bear!!
Bear then boarded helicopter to a rousing kazoo rendition of the bear necessities.
He then flew to Nottingham to his next visit. See the video of the helicopter at:

I think we all should say a huge thank you to Bear for taking the time to visit events like this and we hope that it will happen again, go "Bearintheair"
