COVID-19 Coronavirus Update
At present, the Scout Association is advocating following the standard governmental guidance, which can be found here.
At this stage, there is no intention by 1st Hathersage Scout Group to restrict scouting activities or stop or reduce weekly meetings, which will continue as normal until either revised governmental advice is issued which would impact upon this, or the Scout Association decides to take its own measures, which we will of course follow. If any member (leaders, parents and youth members) exhibit symptoms of the virus, or suspect contact with someone with the virus, then you should follow the prevailing governmental guidance at that time. Anyone returning from abroad should also follow the Government's advice.
If you have not already, we would ask that all parents speak in their children about the importance of thoroughly washing hands (20 second rule!) and safe interaction. We will ensure there is a ready supply of soap on hand at our meeting places and will be encouraging all members to wash their hands on arrival!
Visiting groups, hiring the Scout Hut, should ensure that they have appropriate events cover in the event that cancellation due to the Coronavirus becomes necessary, either by 1st Hathersage Scout Group, the visiting group or The Scout Association. Refunds/Cancellations will be treated in line with the booking terms and conditions at the time of the booking.
Under existing measures, we continue to enjoy Scouting to its fullest and look forward to seeing everyone at our weekly sessions.
Please feel free to contact us with further questions.

Adults, want to Join the Adventure too?
The fun doesn't stop at 18! - Scouting is also about adult volunteers; learning new skills, building up your CV, giving back to the community and having fun!
It doesn't have to be time-consuming; it might be something simple like offering to help wash the tea-towels, or help with some admin, or maybe you're a glutton for glitter, crazy about craft or a first-rate fire starter!
So why not get in touch to see how you can get involved or pop along to see what its all about!?
1st Hathersage Scout Group has been established for many years; in fact, we are coming up to our Centenary in 2019! For over 100 years the group has been providing scouting opportunities to children across the Hope Valley. Many things have changed over the years, but we still remain true to the principles of Scouting and work to provide almost endless possibilities to boys and girls; helping them develop, learn new skills and most importantly, have fun!
At Hathersage we are lucky enough to have a Beaver Colony, two Cub Packs and a Scout Troop, with an Explorer Group only a couple of miles away. This means we are able to provide scouting opportunities to boys and girls from 6 - 18 and beyond.
We also offer great opportunities for adults who may wish to get involved with scouting as Leaders, Assistant Leaders, Occasional Helpers or just offering their specialist skills occasionally, to help support the group.
Our Scout Hut is for Hire!
We are very proud of our Scout Hut and put a lot of effort into keeping it nice and well cared for. You can hire our hut out for the day or for weekend stays at one of the lowest prices you will find in the Valley; and when you do, all that money goes back into looking after our hut and running the Scout Group.
Lots of different groups hire our hut, such as Scouts, Cubs, Beavers, Brownies, Students, Training Courses, Climbers, Walkers, etc.,
